Katy Perry Reveals Collaboration with Doechii on New Single “I’M HIS, HE’S MINE”

Katy Perry is making a comeback with her new single and video, “I’M HIS, HE’S MINE,” featuring rapper Doechii, which is set to be released on Friday, September 13.

Perry shared the announcement on social media on September 10, offering fans a preview of the track. This single is part of her upcoming dance-pop album 143, scheduled to drop on September 20.

The collaboration comes amid recent controversy surrounding Perry’s previous single “Woman’s World,” produced by Dr. Luke, who has been embroiled in legal disputes over allegations of sexual misconduct, notably with Kesha.

In a September 4 episode of Call Her Daddy, Perry addressed the controversy, acknowledging that the collaboration with Dr. Luke “started a lot of conversations.” She emphasized that Dr. Luke was just one of many collaborators she has worked with and reflected on the personal experiences behind her music.

Perry remarked, “When I speak about ‘Woman’s World,’ I speak about feeling so empowered now as a mother, as a woman, giving birth, creating life … I’m still a matriarch and feeling really grounded in that. That’s where I’m speaking from. So I created all of this with several different collaborators, people that I’ve collaborated with from the past, from the ‘Teenage Dream’ era, all of that.”

Perry first gained prominence with her 2008 album One of the Boys, driven by the hit single “I Kissed a Girl,” which was her debut Billboard Hot 100 No. 1. Her third album, Teenage Dream (2010), set a historic record with five consecutive No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, matching a feat previously achieved only by Michael Jackson. Hits like “Firework,” “California Gurls,” and “E.T.” cemented her status as a global pop icon.

Her subsequent albums, Prism (2013) and Witness (2017), also enjoyed chart-topping success, with singles like “Roar” and “Dark Horse” reaching No. 1. Over her career, Perry has earned nine Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles, 14 Top 10 hits, and numerous accolades, including Billboard’s Woman of the Year in 2012.
